Blueberry Maple Syrup

Raise your hand if you like maple syrup or what about fresh blueberries? This Blueberry Maple Syrup is hands down one of the best homemade syrups I have ever tasted! The possibilities are endless now with strawberry and peach season this summer. I am not sure I can ever go back to regular maple syrup!

What is it about homemade syrups that make them 10 times better than store bought? This Blueberry Maple Syrup had me licking my fingers! No really after I strained it into a bowl I licked the bowl clean! I can”t wait to have it again and share it with friends and family! This Blueberry Maple Syrup is simple, fresh, and so delicious!

When combining the fresh blueberries and maple syrup over heat stir constantly and allow the blueberries to split. After draining the liquid and removing the cooked blueberries I set them aside and save them for a topping! I can easily resist plain syrup and go with a healthier option but I refuse to not eat this Blueberry Maple Syrup! The fresh blueberries make it healthier right? 😉

Blueberry Maple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blueberries (rinsed)
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Directions

Step 1
In a saucepan over medium heat combine maple syrup and fresh blueberries. Stir regularly until blueberries begin to split. Strain mixture into a bowl. Pour lemon juice over the mixture in the strainer. Save blueberries and set aside to serve over the top of pancakes or breakfast. Pour syrup into a mason jar or syrup container. Serve warm.
