St Louis – City Food Review

St Louis is diverse, eclectic, baseball loving and full of delicious food! St Louis is near and dear to my heart! My family and I spent two years in St Louis and my second son was born there. Anyone you ask who lives in St Louis will tell you in a heartbeat where their favorite place to eat is! There is so much good food. I have three easy favorites! No questions. So if you are ever passing through or visiting St Louis these places should be at the top of your list! In no particular order!

Fozzies was right around the corner from where we use to live so we gravitated towards it fast. It has more than just sandwiches and it is fresh since they grow their own herbs and vegetables. There isn’t much room to sit inside but if the weather is decent outside there is plenty of seating. They also do carry out and delivery. They have two locations as well. The Classic Gyro and the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich were my all time favorites! I hear they have gluten free bread now too! The prices are reasonable but more expensive than subway, your getting better fresh food and supporting a local restaurant!

Bogarts is the BEST BBQ in town! There is tons of seating around and at lunch there is always a long line. You can’t go wrong with their sides either! Homemade applesauce – I wanted to buy jars of it and take it home. All of their meat is fantastic but don’t forget to order their burnt ends! The best way to do Bogarts is get a little bit of everything and share it! The atomshpere is fun as well. Right across the street from Soulards Farmers Market! The owners are bikers and so friendly. They let my boys get on their bikes for a picture! The best prices in town too for BBQ!

You had me at ‘The Hill’! St Louis has their own version of ‘Little Italy’. There are fresh Italian bakeries on almost every corner, homemade gelato and all the fire hydrants are painted with the Italian flag! Zias is my favorite Italian restaurant, it is perfect for a special occsassion or just a night out! I try to order something different every time but I am always drawn back to my favorite! Capellini Alla Zia is my favorite which I also recreated before moving, you can find it here and The Mister’s favorite Chicken Marsala! You have to leave room for dessert at Zias – their tiramisu is out of this world! Basically go to Zias hungry and ready to eat! If you have a party of 6 or more you can call and make a reservation. They are not open Sundays and they have a food truck that I didn’t know about! Dining prices are around $12 a plate but don’t feel like you have to dress up to eat here!
